on being 33

Double whammy yesterday. Mother's day and the big 3-3.

This was my daily scripture- think God has a sense of humor?:
"They will still bear fruit in old age.  They will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, "The Lord is upright.  He is my Rock and there is no wickedness in Him."

Funny or encouraging?  I haven't decided.

Turning 30 was fun; it was a new chapter full of potential adventure.  My first born was 5 months old and everything was yet to be discovered.  31 and 32 were a blur.

33 I'm putting my foot down.  I'm embracing the chaos that has become my daily (un)routine and I am strapping on my hiking boots to walk with God on this messy unblazed trail.

Yesterday evening I journaled, "God, will you please still use us?  I do not want to be a swamp of your blessings.  I want to be a part of your River that brings life.  I want to make an impact for Your Kingdom."   I decided to give myself a booster shot of "outside-my-little-world-of-little-ones-and-my-own-desires".  I spent some time listening to Jay Dangers speaking at a Missions Conference.

Nearly 20 years ago Jay and his wife and their four small children moved to Uganda to serve God by working with the children who were orphaned by war.  God developed New Hope Uganda which is still serving God and "bringing the Fatherhood of God to the fatherless."  It was inspiring, encouraging, and just what I wanted for my birthday... a reminder of the bigger picture.  It also helped me remember to pray for our very good friends, Gabe and Andrea Williams, that live at New Hope Uganda serving God and working very hard.

Here's some New Hope Uganda on Youtube:

Happy Birthday!

I love your heart for the Lord, but I'm not liking all of this missionary fever. I know I'm gonna lose you to some little mud hut without internet.
