cold turkey: day 1

You are not going to believe this. Guess what my verse for the day is according to my devotional book, "Daily Light"?
Psalm 30:5
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

Anyone who thinks that God a.) doesn't speak directly to us humans or b.) He doesn't have a sense of humor, has just been proven wrong.
Last night was rough, but I was prepared for that. I put her in her crib after a very long drawn out bedtime routine at 7:30. She cried until 8:00 while I cleaned up the dishes and tried to distract myself with other household chores. I went into her room at 8:00 and she was searching the crevasses between her mattress and bumper and saying over and over "bobo, bobo" (that's what she calls her pacifier). It was so sad. I rocked her and held her for about 5 minutes and once she had calmed down I put her back in her crib. She sort of whimpered for about 5 minutes and then fell asleep.
Same routine at 11:30, then at 2:30, and again at 6:45 but that last time didn't put her back down.
It's now 11:30 and I just put her down for a nap and she went down pretty easy. We'll see about tonight. The verse proved true... although she did cry last night, she was as pleasant as ever this morning. No signs of permanent emotional scarring or other disasters.

One issue remains... now instead of throwing the pacifier overboard, she threw her beloved "Mono" (monkey) and her blankie over. Please leave suggestions in the comment section, or email me, or if me a call on my cell. I really don't know what I should do.

Oh, Shannon, you poor thing. I'm praying for you, I wish I had advice, but prayer works better, right?

I'm seriously reconsidering pushing the pacifier on Dylan.
